Domaine Roc d'Anglade

Domaine Roc d'Anglade is a renowned vineyard located in the Hérault region of Languedoc, and it is currently managed by Rémy Pédreno, a passionate winemaker who took over the estate after gaining experience at other prestigious wineries. Since taking the helm, Pédreno has further enhanced the exceptional reputation of the estate while maintaining a philosophy focused on respecting the terroir and an environmentally responsible approach.

The estate spans about 17 hectares of vineyards, located on steep terraces with ideal climatic conditions, nestled between the Mediterranean and the Pic Saint-Loup mountains. The soils, consisting of schist, marl, and limestone, impart a unique minerality to the wines, which are also influenced by the altitude and vine exposure. These natural conditions, combined with careful vineyard management, allow for slow and even grape ripening, which is crucial for producing wines of great finesse.

One of the key features of Domaine Roc d'Anglade is its biodynamic approach, which is central to its production. Rémy Pédreno practices biodynamic viticulture, respecting the vineyard’s biodiversity and using natural methods to maintain the vines and soil. This approach involves farming without chemicals, meticulous soil work, and the use of biodynamic preparations to maintain a natural balance. Not only does this approach respect the environment, but it also produces exceptional-quality grapes.

The estate is particularly known for its red wines, where grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan fully express themselves. The Roc d'Anglade Rouge is a flagship wine, made from these varieties, which blend to offer a rich and complex aromatic profile. Aromas of dark fruits, garrigue, spices, and licorice dominate the nose, and on the palate, the wine is powerful, structured, with fine tannins and an impressive length. Aged in oak barrels, this wine gains depth and richness over time.

The estate also produces remarkable white wines. The Roc d'Anglade Blanc, mainly composed of Roussanne, is a wine of great finesse and complexity, with floral, fruity notes and a marked minerality. This white wine is fresh, balanced, and has a beautiful texture, making it an ideal wine for aging.

Under the leadership of Rémy Pédreno, Domaine Roc d'Anglade has secured its place among the finest estates in the region, attracting attention from wine enthusiasts worldwide. Thanks to its biodynamic approach, unique terroir, and rigorous winemaking methods, the estate produces exceptional wines that are elegant and authentic, perfectly capturing the spirit and character of Languedoc.
