Morgon Domaine Marcel Lapierre 2025
At the heart of Beaujolais, the village of Villié-Morgon is home to one of the most iconic estates of the natural wine movement. Founded in 1909, Domaine Marcel Lapierre now encompasses 13 hectares of vines farmed organically since 1981, including 2 hectares on the prestigious Côte du Py hillside. A pivotal encounter in 1981 with Jules Chauvet, a pioneering figure of natural winemaking in Beaujolais, permanently shaped the philosophy of the estate.
Since Marcel's passing in 2010, his daughter Camille and son Mathieu have carried on this exceptional legacy, upholding an uncompromising standard both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Hand harvesting, traditional Beaujolais vinification without added SO₂ or exogenous yeasts: every bottle is a faithful reflection of a terroir and a deeply held conviction.
The 2025 vintage establishes itself as a remarkable success. The power and finesse of the Gamay grape shine through a particularly fresh growing season, lending the wine a striking tension and vibrancy. Its silky texture, underpinned by a lively, mouthwatering freshness, delivers a pure and vibrant Morgon with elegant depth and a beautifully harmonious finish. On the nose, intense aromas of dark fruit emerge alongside a mineral edge, notes of cherry, raspberry and a whisper of spice.
Pure pleasure and generosity define this wine: a fresh, flowing juice that captures the Gamay and Morgon at their very best. Decant briefly and serve around 14–15°C; this 2025 Morgon pairs wonderfully with a charcuterie board, duck breast with cherries, or simply good company.
