The vineyard has existed since 1936, is 3,000-acre and 53,000 hectolitres are produced. The vine population is composed mainly of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, carménère and petit verdot. The appellation is extended over the towns of Pauillac, Cissac-Médoc, Saint-Estèphe, Saint-Julien-Beychevelle and Saint-Sauveur. 60 different crus are produced on bank gravel.
